The Marbleheaders were a group of fishermen turned army commanded by Colonel Glover
during the American Revolution. As there were many Africans among them, they could well be considered the first integrated military force in the American Revolution. As skillful and well organized seamen their gallantry under the command of Colonel Glover help changed the tides and aided General Washington to victory in the Battle of Trenton.
Here, these valiant Black Marbleheaders,  the 1st Rhode Island Regiment, and the rest of Glover's Marbleheaders at a fun filled weekend in living history and cultural enrichment.

DEFENSE AT THROG's NECK and PELHAM BAY ( BRONX, NYC)
IN 1776, The British landed at Throg's Neck on October 12, then withdraw to land on Pell's Point in today's Pelham Bay Park.  There, the 4,000 British and Hessians are met by these same MARBLEHEADERS under Colonel John Glover and are fought to a standstill, enabling General George Washington, with the main American army, to withdraw safely to White Plains. The Bronx passes under British control until the end of the American Revolution.
